MISC:The Netherlands Antilles consist of the islands of Curacao and
Bonaire. Politically they are half of the Netherlands Antilles, the
other half consists of Saba, St.Eustatius, and St.Maarten. The islands
have some of the best duty-free shopping in the Caribbean. They have a
very constant temperature throughout the year and are rarely threatened
by hurricanes since they are south of the Caribbean hurricane belt.
Curacao has the oldest functioning synagogue in the western hemisphere.
Bonaire has 135 species of birds; coral reefs in excellent diving
waters with up to 60 feet of visibility; and is the least
developed/populated of the Netherlands Antilles. 8% of the land is
arable. 65% of the work force is engaged in government.
